Liquor License Application Made Easier By The Excise Department

The Delhi Hotel and Restaurant Owners Association exhales a sigh of relief. The previous system of applying for liquor licenses was extremely tedious where the entire process was offline, where the ones who need the liquor license had to apply in the office of the commissioner of excise in the prescribed form and submit documents as indicated in the application form. The new online process brought forth by the excise department will not only make the application of liquor license easier but it will also help to save a lot of time.

No More Offline Submission Of Application For The Grant Of Liquor License

The process of applying for a liquor license for parties, restaurants, hotels, or for clubs in Delhi has been simplified as the excise department said that it has completely moved the system online, hence no further applications would be accepted in person.

“As per directions of commissioner (excise), henceforth, all the applications for grant of license to the extent ‘on premises’ consumption of liquor shall only be received in the department online on our official website delhiexcise.gov.in,” read the order issued on Friday.

It must be mentioned that the application for P-10 license, which is needed for serving liquor in marriages and other private events, were already online, but the new rule will be applicable for those seeking L-15, L-16, L-17, L-18, L-19, L-20, L-21, L-28 and L-29 licenses. The system is already live, hence all the people concerned can avail it in no time. The system will also cover clubs registered with the Registrar of Firms or Registrar of Cooperative Societies, for serving foreign liquor to its members.

With this move the excise department not only ensured that the business operations are carried on seamlessly, but they went a step forward on allowing the applicants to track the status of their application online, which is also a great move. In addition to this, such an online process will help to eliminate various misappropriations that some officials could engage in.
